Biography
Gerry Bohan is a farmer and writer from Mohill, County Leitrim, whose debut short story collection, The Clainings Tree and Other Stories from the Heart of Leitrim, was published in 2023 by Drumshanbo Written Word Press. His work, which blends humor with poignant social commentary, revives traditional customs and practices of rural Ireland. Bohan’s storytelling has been recognized with the 2024 MJ McManus Award for his short story “Behind the Wall,” which highlights the volunteer spirit of Mohill GAA Club. He is also an active participant in community arts initiatives, contributing to projects like the “Farm Walks” exhibition, which explores the intersection of art and agriculture in Leitrim.
