Echoes in Stone: Kept Voices 2025

Ever wonder who the writers are on the mural wall between the two churches in Carrick-on-Shannon?
One of them, Susan Mitchell (1866–1926), moved in the same literary circles as W.B. Yeats and George Moore. Another, Nora J. Murray, was a local teacher and poet accused of sedition in 1916. M.J. MacManus edited The Irish Press and wasn’t afraid to satirise James Joyce.
Their words — and new responses by today’s Leitrim writers and musicians — come alive in Echoes in Stone: Kept Voices, a one-night-only performance at St George’s Church, Saturday 30th August at 7:30pm.
