🪶 A Bicentennial Republication
We’re proud to announce our special bicentennial republication of Poems: Religious, Moral and Sentimental, a historically significant collection of poetry widely considered to be the first produced in the province of New Brunswick, originally published in 1825. This new edition features a meticulously restored text preserving the original orthography and new typography selected to recall the character of early nineteenth-century printing.
This foundational collection was written by James Hogg (1800-1866), an Irish immigrant and journalist whose work provides a glimpse into the cultural life of early British North America. You can explore his full biography to learn more about his life and influence on his author profile page.
